ONE Championship Announce Two Huge Title Fights For 2018

ONE Championship have announced two big title fights for their fight cards coming up on Jan. 20 in Jakarta and March 24 in Bangkok.

Chatri Sityodtong announced the news this morning on his social media:

I am super excited to announce two huge world title fights for ONE Championship! Singapore’s Tiffany Teo (7-0) and China’s Xiong Jing Nan (10-1) will compete for the inaugural ONE Women’s Strawweight World Championship on January 20 in Jakarta. Two division ONE Lightweight and ONE Featherweight World Champion Martin Nguyen (10-1) will face ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano Fernandes (21-3) on March 24 in Bangkok.

Teo was last in action back in Singapore last month when she beat Puja Tomar at ONE: Immortal Pursuit. Teo now has four wins under the ONE banner and will now compete in her first ever title fight in January. Nan had her first fight in ONE Championship last week and she defeated April Osenio at ONE: Warriors of the World in Bangkok. No other fights have been announced for the fight card on April 20.

The fight between Nguyen and Fernandes on March 24 is expected to be for the ONE bantamweight world title, but this was not confirmed in Sityodtong’s announcement. Should the fight take place for the 135-pounds title, Nguyen will be attempting to win and hold an unprecedented third world title at three different weight classes. The Australian has implied before that he can easily make the ONE Championship bantamweight title weight, but this is yet to be officially confirmed by the organization.
