Can Velasquez confirms: Former champ to leave the UFC in favour of WWE
Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez is done with the UFC, now he will focus on the WWE instead.
The rumours and reports are true: Cain Velasquez has retired from MMA. While the former UFC heavyweight champ has been rumoured to be on his way towards MMA retirement, it was cemented this weekend. Speaking with The Mac Life, Velasquez detailed his decision to leave MMA for the WWE.

“As of right now, the chapter is closed on my MMA career,” Velasquez said. “I’m focusing on the task at hand with the WWE. I love this sport. I’ve rebirthed myself into reliving it and loving it again. I’m all in on doing this. I’m diving deep into doing this, and this is what I’m doing for right now.”
Surprisingly enough, UFC president Dana White gave Velasquez his blessing.
“We ended up talking on the phone,” Velasquez said of White. “He just supported me 100 percent. It was just a good, respectful talk that we had. He thanked me for everything that I did. I thanked him and the company for everything that they did. He just gave me his full blessing. He said, ‘This is awesome, what you’re doing. Go ahead, you have my full consent to go ahead and do what you want to do.’”
All indications are that Velasquez is inherently happy in the WWE. He has been prone to injury during his time in the UFC, competing only three times in nearly the last six years. While Velasquez doesn’t seem to have closed the door completely in regards to MMA, it’s clear that the WWE is now his home.
