Cage Warriors Champion Nathaniel Wood Signs For The UFC
Sources close to MMANytt.com have revealed that Cage Warriors bantamweight champion Nathaniel Wood has signed for the UFC this morning.
Wood (13-3) is 24-years-old and won the vacant Cage Warriors bantamweight title back in June 2017 when he defeated Marko Kovacevic via first round TKO.
Wood then went on to defend his belt against Josh Reed in an epic encounter which saw both men hurt badly in the opening few minutes of the fight. After looking out of the fight after an early blitz by the Welshman, Wood fought back scored the stoppage victory after a breathless two minutes and 19 seconds.
After his Fight of the Year contender against Reed, Wood then went on to defend his title for the second time on March 24. This time, there was never a question about which way the fight was going to go and Wood knocked out Italian fighter Luca Iovine after just 50 seconds of the first round with a devastating left hand.
Wood will debut on June 1 at UFC Fight Night Utica, New York.
This card is set to be headlined by a bantamweight Jimmie Rivera taking Marlon Moraes.
