Burns Wants Usman Rematch, Ready for Shavkat or Garry After Brady
Gilbert Burns, one of the most experienced fighters in UFC’s welterweight division, is determined to end his career on top. After tough losses and a long recovery from a shoulder injury, Burns has his sights set on a rematch with former champion Kamaru Usman. However, before a rematch can happen, Burns faces Sean Brady and has other potential opponents, including Shavkat Rakhmonov and Ian Garry.
Seeking Redemption Against Usman
Burns is eager to correct the mistakes from his first encounter with Usman. The two previously fought when Usman was the reigning champion, and Burns has been hungry for a rematch ever since. Now armed with the experience gained from his recent fights, he’s ready to do whatever it takes to earn another shot.
“I definitely want that fight again,” says Burns. “It would mean a lot to me to get that opportunity, especially after how our first match went.”
Focused on Brady but Open to Shavkat and Garry
Before Burns can set his sights on Usman, he must tackle the tough challenge that is Sean Brady. Currently ranked sixth in the welterweight division, Burns is aware that a win against Brady, who is ranked eighth, would boost his standing significantly. However, Burns is not only focused on Brady; he also has an eye on other contenders such as the rising star Shavkat Rakhmonov and the talented Ian Garry.
“I want to beat Sean Brady, and if I do that, I’m ready for anyone,” Burns said. “Ian and I have a great relationship, but if they offer the fight, we’re both ready to say yes.”

Ready for New Challenges After a Tough Period
Burns has never been one to shy away from a challenge. He has already faced some of the toughest names in the division, including Usman, Khamzat Chimaev, and Belal Muhammad. After a period marked by injuries and rehabilitation, Burns is back with renewed energy and a clear goal: to fight his way back to the top.
“It’s always tough fights, but that’s why the fans love me,” Burns says. “I’m in a good place in my life right now, both personally and mentally, and I’m ready to give everything in the cage.”
Not a Fan of Apex – But Burns is Ready to Perform
Burns is not entirely pleased that his next fight will take place at UFC Apex, which he describes as an intimate and more restrictive environment compared to the big arenas he prefers. Nonetheless, he is determined to deliver a top performance.
“Apex isn’t really my thing; I like the big arenas, but I’m always ready to give it my all,” Burns said. “It feels almost like a private sparring session with a small crowd, but I’m here to perform and show why I’m still one of the best.”
With a tough road ahead and multiple challengers on the horizon, Gilbert Burns is prepared for whatever comes his way. Whether it’s Brady, Rakhmonov, Garry, or even Usman, Burns’ goal is clear: to finish his career on his own terms and perhaps, one day, get the revenge he so eagerly seeks against Kamaru Usman.
