BREAKING: UFC targeting Conor McGregor vs “Cowboy” Cerrone in UFC return
Conor McGregor seems to have his opponent set for his UFC return: Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone.
The former UFC double champ has been away from MMA since a submission loss to arch rival Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 last year. UFC president Dana White just recently told TMZ that the UFC is targeting the McGregor vs “Cowboy” fight – but that the deal isn’t completely settled yet. McGregor’s return, which he announced himself, will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, January 18th.

“We have nothing done, nothing is even close to being done. So, I hate to even talk about this stuff and say it because it might not happen … it might happen. But, were looking at Cowboy.”
The loss to Nurmagomedov was McGregor’s first fight in the UFC in almost two years, after that he knocked out Eddie Alvarez to win the lightweight title. He then went on to face Floyd Mayweather in one of the biggest boxing matches in the sports history.
Cerrone is also coming off of a loss, though a KO loss to Justin Gaethje in September of this year. That was his second straight loss after a TKO loss to Tony Ferguson a few months earlier.
Once again, the fight is not booked or official, but its the fight the UFC want.
