Tavares has been on the best run of his UFC career in recent months as he’s won his last four fights in a row including a TKO victory in his last bout against Krzysztof Jotko at UFC on FOX 28 in April.
Now that he’s ranked in the top 15, Tavares was gunning for a fight against former champion Michael Bisping but he’ll take on a highly touted prospect instead.
This will undoubtedly be the biggest test of Adesanya’s young UFC career after picking up back-to-back wins in his first two fights.
Adesanya has made waves since first joining the UFC roster and now he’ll take a decided step up in competition as he faces Tavares in July.
Tavares vs. Adesanya will headliner “The Ultimate Fighter” 27 Finale that will also feature the last two fights from the current ‘undefeated’ season with competitors from the lightweight and featherweight divisions. The card takes place at The Pearl at the Palms in Las Vegas during International Fight Week 2018.
