Brad Pickett: ‘I Wanted To Fight Mizugaki, But Apparently He Doesn’t Want To Fight Me’
Apparently Brad Pickett won’t be fighting Takeya Mizugaki in his return fight at ACB 91.
Two weeks ago, Pickett announced he would be coming out of retirement and that he’d signed a multi-fight contract with Russian outfit, ACB.
Pickett’s return date was announced for ACB 91 going down at the Copper Box venue in London, England on Aug. 11 and the Londoner made it clear from the start that his return wasn’t about fighting the best in the world.
The former UFC man said he wanted to face fighters at a similar point in their career’s and one man who everyone thought fitted the bill perfectly was former UFC fighter, Takeya Mizugaki.
Pickett didn’t mess around and immediately called for a showdown with the Japanese fighter in several interviews following his return announcement, but it appears he hasn’t got his way.
Speaking to Layla Anna-Lee on Kwiff’s Alternative Football Quiz this weekend, Pickett revealed that Mizugaki had turned down a fight with him.
“I wanted to fight a guy called Mizugaki, but apparently he doesn’t want to fight me,” Pickett said.
“So now they’re looking for an opponent.”
Who could be the man to fight Pickett in 9 weeks time? The options are exactly plentiful when it comes to 135-pounds worldwide.
Tell me who you think should step up to face Pickett at ACB 91 @MMA_Jim
