Three Bouts Canceled At UFC 223 In Aftermath Of Conor McGregor Incident

Three bouts scheduled for UFC 223 on Saturday following the incident earlier today where Conor McGregor gate crashed the media day.

The Irishman had a large entourage with him and according to UFC President Dana White, he was given access to the Barclaycard Center by an employee from TheMacLife.com. McGregor then proceeded to make his way down into the bowels of the arena where the other fighters were boarding coaches to be transported back to the fighter hotel.

Multiple video clips then show McGregor throwing objects at the bus carrying , but unfortunately, it wasn’t the Russian who he caught the brunt of his aggression.

Michael Chiesa suffered cuts from the broken glass and was treated at hospital this evening. Reports early this evening suggested he would be ok to fight Anthony Pettis tomorrow, but unfortunately he has now been removed from his bout with Anthony Pettis following further assessment.

Another man caught in the crossfire was UFC flyweight Ray Borg who also went to hospital this evening. Borg complained about the vision in his eyes following the flying shrapnel and has also now been reported as out of his scheduled fight with Brendon Moreno.

Per sources, Chiesa/Pettis and Borg/Moreno are both off. Chiesa’s facial cuts, and his weight cut was thrown off. Borg started to experience problems with his eye, from the particles of glass.

Lastly, the scheduled featherweight bout between Artem Lobov and Alex Caceres has been cancelled. Dana White confirmed the bout was off shortly after the incident and cited Lobov’s involvement the McGregor incident today as the reason for his removal.
