Blaydes has been anxious to land a spot on the card in Chicago assuming he could come to an agreement with the UFC on a new contract after fighting out his old deal with a win over Mark Hunt in February.
It appears Blaydes was happy with whatever the UFC offered as he will now look to take another step towards title contention when he fights Overeem in June.
Overeem will attempt to halt Blayde’s three fight win streak while getting back on track himself after suffering a knockout loss to Francis Ngannou this past December. Prior to that defeat. Overeem had won two fights in a row including a victory over former heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum.
Overeem and Blaydes are the latest fight confirmed for UFC 225 in Chicago with a main event for the card still to be determined.
