Alistair Overeem on Daughter’s Gender Transition: “Brainwashed by the Extreme Left”
Departure from UFC
Former UFC fighter Alistair Overeem left the world-leading MMA organization following his loss to Alexander Volkov at UFC Vegas 18. Over his career, Overeem defeated several MMA legends, including Vitor Belfort, Mark Hunt, and Fabrício Werdum. Despite his successes in the octagon, it’s his recent comments about his daughter that have garnered significant attention.
Controversial Podcast Comments
Last week, Overeem appeared on UFC veteran Rampage Jackson’s podcast, where he shared his thoughts on his daughter’s gender transition, describing it as a result of “woke nonsense.”
“I have a problem with my eldest (daughter), she thinks she’s my son. She’s totally snowed in on woke nonsense. If it wasn’t so sad, it would actually be funny. She’s addicted to her phone, she’s basically brainwashed six, seven, eight hours a day with these ideas. About who she feels she is and who she should be. She’s been brainwashed by the extreme left,” Overeem stated.
He further elaborated on his stance, emphasizing his unwillingness to acknowledge his daughter’s gender identity:
“It’s important to have patience, compassion, and to learn about this topic. But I’m not going to call her he. It’s not happening. I’m a fighter, I will always fight. I’m not falling for this, I just don’t believe in it”.

Overeem’s UFC Career Highlights
In 2016, at UFC 203, Overeem fought for the title against then-UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic. Overeem came close to finishing Miocic via submission but ultimately lost the fight by knockout. His storied career, however, has taken a backseat to his current personal and family issues, which he has discussed candidly in public forums.
