Alistair Overeem BACK for main event fight in Washington DC

"The Demolition Man"; Alistair Overeem, is back for a new, high-stakes fight against the up-and-coming Walt Harris

One of the heavyweight division’s biggest fighters, both literally and figuratively, is back! Dutchman Alistair Overeem (45-17) was just recently booked for a main event slot against the underrated, overlooked but extremely talented Walt Harris (13-7). The fight is scheduled for the main event slot at UFC on ESPN 7 in Washington DC, December 7th. ESPN were first to report the fight.

Both coming off big KO’s

In 2017 Overeem had a nice two fight winning streak broken, quite brutally, by two back-to-back knockout losses to Francis Ngannou and Curtis Blaydes. He rebounded however with a vicious, first round TKO over Russian UFC debutant Sergei Pavlovic. He would then travel to St. Petersburg to take on hometown favourite Aleksei Oleinik – and won by first round knockout.

Harris is unbeaten in his last four fights. After a TKO victory over Daniel Spitz he would go on to defeat Andrei Arlovski via decision. That decision would however be changed to a No Contest after that Harris tested positive for LGD-4033. He would prove, though, that the substance came from a tainted supplement, resulting in a substantially shortened suspension. He returned with a TKO win over  Ukrainian Sergey Spivak, and extended his win streak with a 12 second KO of the above mentioned Oleinik.

Who wins the heavyweight main event clash on december 7th – Overeem or Harris?
