Alexander Gustafsson: ‘I Am Jon Jones’ Kryptonite’

Alexander Gustafsson believes that he is the man to beat Jon Jones and he's expecting to do exactly that at UFC 232.

Alexander Gustafsson pushed Jon Jones to his limits back in 2013 and at UFC 232 he’s looking to go one better and claim the UFC light heavyweight title.

Gustafsson and Jones went to war at UFC 165 and the Swede came away with a loss after taking the fight to the then champion Jones for the first two rounds. The fight is widely recognised as the best light heavyweight fight in UFC history, but Gustafsson has promised their fight at UFC 232 will be even better.

“He said it, and I’m saying it too: it’s the best fight in the light heavyweight division ever in the UFC,” Gustafsson said yesterday on the UFC 232 pre-fight conference call.

“We did something right that fight, and I can promise you that this fight will be even better. It will be even better. I am preparing for ten rounds and I will push the pace from round one to the end of it.”

Gustafsson believes that he will be far superior when he faces Jones for the second time and he learned a lot from their first contest.

“I am his Kryptonite, he doesn’t like to fight me. I am bringing something that he can’t really handle. That’s what makes it such a good fight.”

The Swede added that he believes he’s a much harder matchup for Jones that the current UFC double-weight world champion Daniel Cormier and that he has number of physical attributes that give him a big advantage over Jones.

“I have a better reach (than Daniel Cormier), I am the fastest guy in the light heavyweight division, I have the best foot work. And he can’t match that.”
