Al Iaquinta: ‘There’s No Point To Tony Ferguson Besides People Beating His Ass’
Tony Ferguson and Al Iaquinta have been going back and forth over Twitter in the last few days and things only appear to be getting even more heated.
Iaquinta replaced Ferguson at UFC 223 and went on to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov for the vacant UFC lightweight title. Earlier this week, Ferguson took a shot at Iaquinta calling him a “non-full time fighter real estate agent” and from there, the two went back and forth.
This week on Submission Radio, Iaquinta gave his thoughts on Ferguson coming after him.
.Beats a non-full time fighter real estate agent ranked #11 on @ufc roster, and I get Stripped when same thing happened to @rjwhittaker1990 @teamkhabib run til’ November #PaperChump ??????? https://t.co/es3xBJEPSR

“Yeah I saw it and I was like ‘dude shut the f*ck up,'” Iaquinta said.
“Who is that guy to say anything? He had a title shot and he blew it.
“He tripped on a wire! I dunno, it’s like nature is weeding you out, you got weeded out like a kid… kids trip over things.
“Adults, like he’s a professional athlete and you can’t not trip over a wire.”
Rather than take people to task on Twitter, Iaquinta believes Ferguson should keep a low profile for a minute. Iaquinta said that if he were in Ferguson’s shoes, he wouldn’t be so quick to call people out given the state of his knee.
“Like, just disappear for a while, you’re a f*cking idiot,” Iaquinta said.
“If that happened to me and I had to pull out of a title fight because I tripped over a wire, you aren’t hearing me talk s*** on Twitter at all, I’m going to hide somewhere.
“I’m not going to act tough and he’s acting tough like when like a middle school kid could kick the s*it out of him right now because he can’t do anything.
“You can’t talk s*it when you’re in the state that you’re in.”
The war of words between the two doesn’t look like ending anytime soon and Iaquinta went on to question the purpose of Ferguson’s existence outside of fighting in the Octagon.
“The guys is so weird, he just doesn’t, I mean who cares about that guy?” Iaquinta said.
“He’s really just good at fighting and that’s it, if it wasn’t for fighting he’d be a worthless person.
“There’s no point to Tony Ferguson besides to people beating his ass.
“He gets dropped every fight and people just like watching him get his ass beat and come back.
“That’s the only thing that Tony Ferguson is good at.”
