Aaron Chalmers Leaving Geordie Shore As He Shifts His Focus To His MMA Career

Aaron Chalmers will be leaving Geordie Shore after being on the show for four years.

BAMMA welterweight Aaron Chalmers will be leaving UK reality TV series Geordie Shore after being with the show for four years.

The Geordie has won all three of his bouts since making his debut last year and he finished all of his fights inside the distance with one submission and two via KO/TKO.

Speaking prior to his last fight against Karl Donaldson at BAMMA 33 in December, Chalmers spoke exclusively to MMANytt about how he’d been increasingly falling in love with the fight game and how he was intending to take it even more seriously and make it one his primary career focuses.

“If I didn’t enjoy it, I wouldn’t do it,” Chalmers said. “It’s something that I really enjoy, but it’s something that I’m getting more into everyday. When you see yourself progressing, it spurs you on even more. When I first started, I didn’t feel like I was progressing as quickly as I am now. I’ve been in camp with Fabian and the UTC lads and we’ve all just had a helluva camp, a really, really good camp.

“We’ve got a strong team at UTC so that really helps. Even the guys that aren’t fighting, they come in and they’re helping with the sparring and stuff. I’ve got a great group of lads down there that are all willing to help. For my first fight, yeah it was a big of fun and yeah I was doing it because it was just like a hobby, but now it’s full force.”

Mirror Sport are reporting that Chalmers could still be involved with the series in a spinoff of the show, but having bought a flat in Birmingham to live in during the week so he can train more frequently at UTC in Birmingham, it appears Chalmers is now giving his MMA career the majority of his attention.

There’s been no confirmation of when Chalmers’ next fight will be, but with BAMMA heading to the SSE Wembley Arena on March 9 for BAMMA 34, Chalmers could well feature.
