Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Manager Blasts Conor McGregor Following the Analysis of His Performance
Khabib Nurmagomedov’s manager doesn’t want to hear any more excuses coming from Conor McGregor about why he got beat at UFC 229.
Earlier this week, McGregor released a lengthy statement on his Instagram page explaining what went wrong in his title fight loss to Nurmagomedov just a couple of weeks ago.
McGregor went round-by-round talking about the fight and the mistakes he made while facing Nurmagomedov before he was submitted by a fourth round neck crank.
Now Nurmagomedov’s manager Ali Abdelaziz is firing back at McGregor with his own brutally honest assessment of what unfolded when the two lightweights stepped into the cage together at UFC 229.
“First of all the champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is too busy enjoying his life and his family and does not give a shit what anyone says but this is my response to this weak soul, him and his sorry ass team already making some stupid ass excuses,” Abdelaziz wrote on Instagram.
“When a man gets held against his will and listens to you gasp for air, hopeless on your back how do you win a fight? If this was a street fight you’d be done. You got out grappled and out wrestled, looking like a little child. Second round — the wrestler/grappler out struck you and hit you with a K Bomb and put you on your ass, taken down and hit with missile strikes from the guard and getting smashed in front of your whole family & crew.
“Khabib stood the whole round with you to make a point that you’re a front runner. If you can knock someone else you give up like you did five times in your fighting career. THEN YOU MENTIONED ‘THIS IS ONLY BUSINESS’ — YOU PUT YOUR WHITE FLAG IN THE MIDDLE OF BATTLE.”
During that last part of the statement, Abdelaziz is referencing a moment caught on camera at the end of the third round where McGregor was heard telling Nurmagomedov ‘this is only business’ presumably in response to the trash talk he used to build up the fight.
Nurmagomedov responded while he had McGregor on the mat telling the former two-division champion that now was the time to talk while pounding away at him with a series of punishing punches.
Abdelaziz continued by walking through the fourth round, which brought the end of the fight after Nurmagomedov locked on the submission that forced McGregor to tap out.
“4th round – God put mercy in Khabib’s heart and decided to show the world you’re a tap machine and put on a neck crank that wasn’t even a choke,” Abdelaziz said. “The proper technique is two [hands] on one [arm], try to peel the arm and defend the neck crank. You put your two hands on the ground and your hand only came up when you were ready to tap.”
In closing, Abdelaziz shut down any talk about a rematch unless Nurmagomedov was going to get paid a lot of money to step back into the cage with somebody he just dominated and finished a few weeks ago.
“It’s embarrassing,” Abdelaziz stated. “If you would have beat Khabib, it would have been fair and square you win with no excuses. Now if you can’t make us $100 million — we know you can’t — go fight somebody else because your ass is not getting a rematch.
“Go open a liquor store and focus on selling alcohol especially after all the shit you talked. Just [shut the f–k up] and move on.”
