Junior dos Santos vs. Tai Tuivasa in the Works as Main Event for UFC in Adelaide

A heavyweight showdown between former champion Junior dos Santos and Tai Tuivasa is on tap as the main event for the upcoming UFC Fight Night card in Adelaide, Australia on Dec. 1.

Sources close to the matchup confirmed the news on Thursday following an initial report from Combate in Brazil. The UFC has not made any announcement regarding the fight and nothing is official until bout agreements have been signed and returned.

For dos Santos, this will serve as his latest opportunity to get back into the title race following a win over debuting heavyweight Blagoy Ivanov in his most recent fight. The win put dos Santos back on track following a loss to former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic in 2017.

Meanwhile, Tuivasa will take his biggest step up in competition after starting his UFC career with a perfect 3-0 record.

Most recently, Tuivasa defeated another former heavyweight champion in Andrei Arlovski and now he’ll look to add dos Santos to his resume while headlining a card in his native Australia.

UFC Fight Night from Adelaide will air on FS1 in the United States.
