Jon Jones receives 90-day deferred sentence for strip club incident

Despite what was said ahead of sentencing, Jon Jones will be under strict observation for several months following his latest controversy

Supervised probation awaits UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

In April this year, it would seem that Jon Jones was in trouble outside of the cage once more. The incident occurred at Albuquerque strip bar, TD’s Gold Club, in April of last year. Allegedly, Jones slapped a cocktail waitress in the genitalia, dragged her onto his lap and kissed her. While Jones wrote “Don’t be so quick to believe everything you read on the Internet,” on Twitter in response to the charges, he hasn’t been deemed completely innocent.

Now according to ESPN, Jones has received a 90-day deferred sentence after pleading no contest at Bernalillo (New Mexico) County Metropolitan Court. This means that Jones cannot violating the law, consume alcohol or drugs, must be under unsupervised probation, can not return to the scene and must pay court fees.

While this sentencing is not ideal, it could have been substantially worse – Especially considering Jones’ past digressions. As of now he has no clear title challenger ahead of him. Recently he has gone back-and-forth with newly crowned middleweight champ Israel Adesanya. His last fight was a split decision win over Thiago Santos in one of Jones’ most competitive fights to date.
