Former UFC Champ Renan Barao Now Training at American Top Team
Former UFC bantamweight champion Renan Barao is looking for a fresh start as he’s been training at American Top Team in Florida for the past few months.
Barao has been posting photos from his training sessions at the famed gym based out of Coconut Creek, Florida and sources close to the fighter say he’s been there for the past few months.
Of course, Barao has been a long time member of the Nova Uniao team in Brazil where he trained alongside the likes of former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo.
Now it appears Barao is looking to add to his training by working with the crew at American Top Team — a gym responsible for several current and past UFC and Bellator champions over the years including Amanda Nunes, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Douglas Lima, and Daniel Strauss.
Barao has been suffering through the toughest stretch of his career in recent years while putting together a 2-4 mark through his past six fights while bouncing back and forth between featherweight and bantamweight.
Barao last fought in July when he dropped a unanimous decision to Aljamain Sterling.
Now it appears Barao is getting in shape for another fight in 2018 with the coaches at American Top Team behind him.
