Petr Yan warns the division: “Are you ready for war?”
Ahead of UFC on ESPN+ 3 in Prague Russian bantamweight sensation Petr “No Mercy” Yan (13-1) was given his biggest test to date, facing off against two time titel challenger John Dodson (20-11). With three straight wins in the UFC expectations were high – and Yan continued to impress by dominating the fight and winning every single round on the judges score cards.
“I am pleased with the result,” Yan tells MMAnytt, “but I know that I could win even more beautifully.”
Dodson repeatedly complained to the referee about potential fouls, causing a pause in the action, but to no avail for the American.
“Yes he, like a girl, complained to the referee. Like a poodle that let its hair down and complains.”
Now in the span of eight months Yan has four straight victories in the competitive bantamweight division and holds eighth place in the rankings.

He has also finished both Teruto Ishihara and Douglas Andrade – but he wont be content until he’s the fighter everyone is chasing.
“I am glad that I have risen higher in the ranking. But I want to be the first!”
Yan has now challenged top ranked Jimmie Rivera following his win over Dodson. The Russian insists it’s nothing personal – it hasa much more to do with Riveras ranking.
Did @JimmieRivera135 go missing? Someone tell him to respond to my callout, no is an answer too https://t.co/NnEeUErSlb

“I want to fight those higher than me in the rankings! Are you ready for war – or do you have to run away like girls?”
So far Yan has given reason for the hype and attention he’s received, and with the UFC returning to Russia this year there’s a good chance we’ll see “No Mercy” in the octagon sooner rather than alter.
