Demian Maia vs. Kamaru Usman Official as All Fighters Make Weight for UFC in Chile
The welterweight main event for the UFC’s first ever card in Chile is official as former title contender Demian Maia and Kamaru Usman stepped onto the scale on Friday.
Maia, who accepted the fight on short notice, came in at 171 pounds as he looks to stave off a third straight loss following setbacks to welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and interim title contender Colby Covington.
As for Usman, he’s gone undefeated since joining the UFC by way of “The Ultimate Fighter” and now he’ll attempt to crack the top five rankings with a win over Maia on Saturday.
In the co-main event, top prospect Alexa Grasso will have a very tough test ahead of her while facing arguably the best wrestler in the women’s strawweight division as former ‘Ultimate Fighter’ winner Tatiana Suarez looks for another big win inside the Octagon.
