Demetrious Johnson Wants Rematch with Henry Cejudo But Only After Several Injuries Heal Up

Demetrious Johnson says he was nursing a couple of pretty serious injuries during his fight with Henry Cejudo at UFC 227 and after they heal, he's definitely ready for a rematch

After a historic title reign that lasted for 11 consecutive defenses, Demetrious Johnson seemed to take his loss to Henry Cejudo at UFC 227 in stride.

In fact, Johnson says he was mostly upset about the injuries he suffered during the fight that likely hampered his performance before losing a very close split decision after five hard fought rounds.

“I’m fine. Losing happens. Every great champion loses,” Johnson said at the UFC 227 post fight press conference. “I’ve lost before when I fought [Dominick Cruz]. I lose in the gym. I’m fine. I’m more upset about the injuries but other than that, I’m OK.”

Johnson says he would definitely like to get a rematch with Cejudo but only after his injuries heal.

“Of course yeah, it wasn’t like he blew me out of the water,” Johnson said about another fight with Cejudo. “First things first, I’m not going to sit here be like ‘I want a rematch’. I need to get healthy first. My health is No. 1. I’m not going to sign a contract if I can’t get through eight weeks of training camp to get ready for a fight.”
