Former UFC title contender Darren Till was reportedly forced to pay more than $900 in fines and part of another $11,000 in restitution after he was arrested for stealing a taxi and trashing a hotel in the Canary Islands.

According to court officials via the Daily Mail in the U.K., Till and four of his friends were vacationing near Spain when they were booted from a hotel for smashing furniture and emptying out the fire extinguishers.

After moving to a new hotel, Till and one of his friends allegedly stole the taxi while the driver was dropping off their bags. Police apprehended Till and his friend shortly after they drove off in the vehicle.

Till and his friends remained in jail for the better part of two days before they were able to go before the court where they reportedly admitted to the crimes before being fined and ordered to pay restitution to the hotel.

“Court of Investigation Number Four in Arona, acting as a duty court on Saturday, sentenced five British men for different incidents that occurred last Thursday,” court officials told the Daily Mail.  “The men admitted wrongdoing.’

“The sportsman D.T. (Darren Till) and another man were sentenced as authors of a crime of damage and unauthorized use of a vehicle.”

Till was ultimately fined over $900 for the theft of the vehicle while also being ordered to pay his share of more than $11,000 for restitution for the damage done to the hotel.

Till has made no statement regarding the arrest and his later release.

The 26-year old British fighter last competed in March where he suffered a second round knockout to Jorge Masvidal in England.
