Daniel Cormier Faces Derrick Lewis in New Main Event for UFC 230 in New York
The heavyweight title will go up for grabs in the new main event for UFC 230 as Daniel Cormier will take on Derrick Lewis on Nov. 3 in New York.
Sources close to the fight confirmed both athletes have agreed to the matchup following an initial report from ESPN.
The fight came together very last minute after the UFC was scrambling for a main event to headline the upcoming card from Madison Square Garden in New York.
Lewis just fought this past Saturday night in a grueling battle against Alexander Volkov before earning a stunning come from behind knockout in the third round.
As for Cormier, he was dealing with an injured hand following his win over Stipe Miocic back in July but sources confirmed the reigning heavyweight champion was cleared to return to action so he could take the fight with Lewis.
Now Cormier vs. Lewis will headline the show on Nov. 3 with the heavyweight title on the line.
