Cris Cyborg Opens as Big Favorite Over Amanda Nunes in Potential Super Fight

If Cris Cyborg ultimately faces Amanda Nunes in her next fight, she will walk into the Octagon as a sizable favorite.

If Cris Cyborg ultimately faces Amanda Nunes in her next fight, she will walk into the Octagon as a sizable favorite.

That’s according to the oddsmakers over at BetDSI, who revealed the odds upon word that Cyborg and Nunes have agreed to meet in the UFC later this year if the two champions can decide on a date and location for the fight.

The UFC women’s featherweight champion wants to compete at UFC 228 in September while Nunes has argued for UFC 232 in December, which appears to be the date that the promotion wants the fight to happen as well.

For now, Cyborg will just have to enjoy her favorite status as a massive favorite over the reigning UFC women’s bantamweight champion in a potential matchup at 145 pounds.

According to the opening odds, Cyborg would be instilled as a -220 favorite while Nunes would be the underdog at +180.

That means if you bet $100 on Nunes and she was victorious, you’d get back $180. On the flipside, you’d have to bet $220 on Cyborg to get back $100 if she wins.

“Cris Cyborg’s true test has finally arrived in UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes. Both fighters have several similarities. Both are fierce strikers with tremendous knockout power and finishing ability,” betting expert Nick Kalikas said about the matchup. “I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Nunes mixing things up and trying to utilize offensive wrestling against Cyborg, which won’t be an easy task due to the opponent’s size and strength advantage.”

As of now the matchup remains hypothetical until the two sides are able to come to an agreement on the date and location.

If Cyborg and Nunes are able to ink the deal, they would meet in the second champion versus champion showdown in the UFC after Daniel Cormier knocked out Stipe Miocic to become heavyweight champion and light heavyweight champion just last week.
