Conor McGregor Will Face Off with Khabib Nurmagomedov Ahead of UFC 229

Get ready for one of the most highly anticipated face offs in recent memory when Conor McGregor meets Khabib Nurmagomedov at a planned press and fan event in September

Conor McGregor will come face-to-face with Khabib Nurmagomedov several weeks ahead of their fight at UFC 229 on Oct. 6.

On Wednesday, the UFC announced plans via “UFC Tonight” for a press and fan event that will feature both McGregor and Nurmagomedov in attendance. There are no details on whether or not this will be a standard press conference or some kind of other event, but it’s expected that the two competitors will meet sometime in early September.

While there’s no word on a location, it’s likely that McGregor and Nurmagomedov would face off in Las Vegas with their fight taking place at the T-Mobile Arena.

In addition to that news, McGregor is also expected to relocate his training camp from Ireland to Las Vegas at some point in September to wrap up the final weeks of his preparation to get ready for Nurmagomedov.

McGregor will use the UFC Performance Institute to facilitate his training very much like he did for his boxing match against Floyd Mayweather last year.

Meanwhile, UFC 229 will definitely be one of the biggest events of the year after it was reported that ticket sales for the show have already surpassed the most profitable UFC card to ever happen in Las Vegas.

UFC 200 currently holds the record with more than $10.7 million made at the gate and UFC 229 will surpass that total. UFC 229 will also soon hold the all time attendance record for the promotion in Las Vegas but no exact number will be revealed until the night of the fight.

Tickets are in such high demand that UFC president Dana White added that there will be no comp tickets given away to celebrities or anybody else hoping to attend the event. White even claimed that UFC owners Ari Emanuel and Patrick Whitesell will buy their own tickets, but that seems highly unlikely considering they are typically seated at a table cage side for the events.

Regardless it’s clear that UFC 229 will be a massive undertaking for the promotion with additional plans in place for a ticketed weigh-in on Friday, Oct. 5. Additional details on how fans can get those tickets will be revealed at a later date.

UFC 229 goes down on Saturday night, Oct. 6 from Las Vegas as McGregor makes his return to the Octagon after nearly two years away as he challenges Nurmagomedov for the lightweight title in the main event.
