Conor McGregor Expected to Move Training Camp to Las Vegas After UFC 229 Presser
Conor McGregor will be Las Vegas bound very soon.
The former two-division UFC champion has typically spent several weeks in the Las Vegas heat as he prepares to fight in Sin City but for his upcoming bout against Khabib Nurmagomedov, he had a different plan in mind.
Due to the short notice between the fight being signed and taking place on Oct. 6, McGregor opted to spend most of his training camp at home in Ireland training at the SBG facility under head coach John Kavanagh.
It appears McGregor will still finish up his final week of training in Las Vegas with the Irishman and his team expected to arrive there after the upcoming UFC 229 press conference on Sept. 20.
McGregor will face off with the reigning UFC lightweight champion next Thursday and then in the days following that press conference, he’s expected to shift his camp to Las Vegas for the last days of his camp.
McGregor will call the UFC Perforamance Institute his home for that final week and the promotion is already preparing for his imminent arrival.
McGregor requested that the vinyl surface that was inside the practice cage at the Performance Institute be switched out for a canvas mat similar to what is used inside the real Octagon.
UFC officials have catered to McGregor’s needs as he prepares for his arrival in Las Vegas following the press conference in New York.
McGregor will only spend his final days training in Las Vegas as fight week is creeping up just around the corner with his return taking place on Oct. 6.
McGregor hasn’t fought in the UFC since 2016 when he defeated Eddie Alvarez to become the first ever simultaneous two division champion in promotion history while holding the lightweight and featherweight titles.
