Combate Americas’ Andres Quintana already feels he holds the featherweight title
For countless reasons, Andres “The Bullet” Quintana (13-2) is considered by many as the best featherweight under the Combate Americas banner, a division that for sure has the best talent in the promotions, with fighters such as Pablo Villaseca, Gaston Reyno and Rafa Garcia.

Quintana will face a new chapter called Marco Antonio Elpidio (7-2-1), a Mexican power-hitter that will try to end Quintana’s three-fight winning streak, in the main fight of ‘Mexico vs. El Mundo’ Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event from Auditorio Municipal Tijuana in Tijuana, B.C., Mexico on Friday, May 18.
“I’m not worried, who has more knockouts? I have more knockouts than he has wins! What do you mean he’s a knockout artist?”, Quintana Stated. “Of course I’m the best, has anyone beat me? No one has beat me, how can I not be the best?”.
In regards of a featherweight belt, Quintana already considers himself as the champion of the division, so for him, a victory against Elpidio will not change his status as the best 145 pounder.
“I can’t further my status, I’m already the best. Title shots comes and comes, actually I already feel that I hold the title so. What does it matter if they put belts around my waist?”, Quintana said. “Everyone knows I’m the champ, I’m the one to beat, no one else can beat me. Everybody is aiming for me, I have the target on my back and I’m the only undefeated”.
The nine-bout fight card of “Combate Americas: Mexico vs El Mundo” will be highlighted by matchups between an assembly of top rising stars from Mexico and opponents from four other countries – the U.S., Spain, Brazil and Chile. This fight will be special for “The Bullet”, because he will be representing both Mexico and the U.S.
“I’m Mexican-American, I feel like I’m kind of on both sides, I’m very proud of both sides of my heritage. I’m going to go in there and make my people proud, even Mexicans and Americans, whoever they are, the people that supports me; I’m here to represent them”.
