Alexander Gustafsson Expected to Face Anthony Smith in UFC Sweden Main Event

The UFC is returning to Sweden with local favorite Alexander Gustafsson fighting in the main event against Anthony Smith on June 1 in Stockholm.

Multiple sources confirmed the fight on Saturday with verbal agreements in place from both fighters with contracts expected to be issued at any time. ESPN initially reported the contest.

Both Gustafsson and Smith are coming off title fight losses against Jon Jones when they clash in June in hopes of getting back into championship contention with a win.

Gustafsson suffered a third round knockout in his fight with Jones as he fell short in his third bid to become light heavyweight champion.

As for Smith, he went five rounds with Jones in early March at UFC 235, which stopped his three fight win streak after moving to the light heavyweight division.

Gustafsson vs. Smith is expected to headline the card with more fights to be added in the coming weeks.
