Alexander Gustafsson Blasts ‘Coward’ Jon Jones for Not Signing Bout Agreement Yet

Alexander Gustafsson revealed that he's signed a contract to face Jon Jones but he's still waiting for Jones to do the same thing

Alexander Gustafsson is waiting on Jon Jones to respond.

On Tuesday, Gustafsson revealed that he’s signed a contract to face Jones at an undisclosed event later this year but right now the former light heavyweight champion hasn’t done the same.

Gustafsson took to Instagram to call out Jones while stating that he’s already returned a bout agreement for their fight.

“Jon Jones, you are pissing me off! I signed my agreement. Where are you??” Gustafsson wrote on Instagram. “Are you chickening out again?? Stop being a coward!”

Last week, UFC president Dana White revealed that he wanted to book Jones against Gustafsson at UFC 232 on Dec. 29 in Las Vegas but the fight was far from finished when he first discussed the possibility.

White also stated earlier this week that it’s likely the UFC will strip Daniel Cormier of the light heavyweight championship with him out of action until 2019. That would seem to pave the way for Jones vs. Gustafsson to then compete for the vacant 205-pound title.

Now sources have confirmed that the fight has been offered with the matchup likely targeted for UFC 232 in December but it’s still not finalized.

Obviously, Gustafsson is saying he’s signed his bout agreement and he’s waiting on Jones to also accept the fight to make it official.

UFC officials have made no announcements regarding the rumored bout but it definitely seems like Gustafsson is anxiously awaiting word on fighting Jones for a second time.

The first fight between Jones and Gustafsson was a five round classic back in 2013. Jones ended up edging out Gustafsson by decision but there’s been a desire to see the rematch ever since.
