UFC 307: Pereira vs Rountree Jr – Full Results

✔ The event featured few finishes but had an exciting main event!

UFC 307 delivered an action-packed night, even though only a few fights ended with finishes. Two title fights headlined the event, with some of the biggest names in MMA stepping into the octagon. In the main event, the light heavyweight title was on the line, as Alex Pereira defended his belt against the surging Khalil Rountree Jr. The co-main event featured Raquel Pennington putting her bantamweight title on the line against Julianna Peña, a highly anticipated rematch.

Main Event: Pereira Secures TKO Victory Over Rountree Jr

In one of the most exciting matchups of the night, Alex Pereira faced Khalil Rountree Jr in a bout that saw both fighters display incredible toughness and power. Rountree Jr started strong, knocking Pereira down with a devastating right hook in the second round. However, Pereira’s championship mettle shone through, as he quickly recovered and fought back. Rountree wasn’t done yet, landing a clean head kick later in the round, which Pereira absorbed, showing his grit and resilience. The momentum began to shift by the third round, with Pereira slowly taking control of the fight. In the fourth round, the champion found his rhythm, overwhelming Rountree with a flurry of strikes. At 4:32 into the round, Pereira sealed his victory with a TKO, retaining his light heavyweight belt.

Pereira’s ability to withstand Rountree’s heavy shots and turn the fight around demonstrated why he’s considered one of the most dangerous fighters in the division. His performance also raised questions about what’s next for Rountree, who showed tremendous potential despite the loss.

Peña Reclaims Bantamweight Title in Controversial Decision

The co-main event between Raquel Pennington and Julianna Peña ended in controversy. Peña, determined to reclaim the bantamweight title she lost, secured a split decision victory after five intense rounds. However, the decision left many fans and analysts questioning the outcome. Pennington appeared to be the more dominant striker throughout the fight, landing more significant blows, including a right hook that dropped Peña in the fourth round. She continued to hurt Peña in the final round with the same punch, seemingly controlling the stand-up exchanges.

Despite this, the judges were swayed by Peña’s grappling and control, awarding her the victory. The result sparked debate within the MMA community, with many believing that Pennington’s damage output should have been enough to secure her the win. Peña’s victory, however, marks her return to the top of the bantamweight division, and the rivalry between these two fighters could potentially lead to a third matchup.

Buckley Knocks Out Thompson in the Third Round

Joaquin Buckley once again showcased his knockout power, this time against veteran striker Stephen Thompson. The fight began with Thompson using his signature movement and elusive striking to frustrate Buckley, who struggled to land his punches in the first two rounds. Recognizing the difficulty, Buckley switched to his wrestling, pushing Thompson against the cage and attempting to control him on the ground. However, Thompson’s improved grappling defense forced Buckley to abandon that strategy and rely on his heavy hands once again.

As the third round progressed, Buckley began to find his range. Despite missing several big swings, he only needed one punch to turn the tide. At 2:17 of the third round, Buckley landed a brutal right hook that put Thompson out cold, adding another highlight-reel knockout to his resume. The win further cements Buckley’s reputation as one of the most dangerous strikers in the welterweight division.
