Hooker Wants McGregor Fight – “We Can Make a Deal”
Ready to Fight McGregor
Dan Hooker has thrown his name into the mix as a potential opponent for Conor McGregor, suggesting he would be a better fit than Michael Chandler. After Chandler was booked to face Charles Oliveira at UFC 309, McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC) was left without a confirmed opponent. Hooker (24-12 MMA, 14-8 UFC) argues that the focus should shift from Chandler to him, as both he and McGregor are currently looking for a fight.
In an interview with Submission Radio, Hooker stated, “He’s without a fight. I know Conor’s hungry to fight, and fight someone that he can get something from”.
Hooker’s Case Against Chandler
Hooker emphasizes that a fight with Chandler doesn’t elevate McGregor’s standing. According to him, even if McGregor were to knock Chandler out, it wouldn’t return him to the top 5 in the rankings, which would happen if McGregor fought Hooker instead. Hooker also pointed out Chandler’s focus on his UFC 309 match with Oliveira and questioned the logic behind the UFC’s decision to book that fight, implying that McGregor deserves a more compelling match-up.
“What does he get from fighting Chandler?” Hooker asked.
His frustration also stems from the fact that Chandler has been waiting for a McGregor bout, only to now take on Oliveira instead. Hooker feels this leaves the door open for him to secure a bout with the Irishman, offering a higher-stakes fight.

Hooker’s Proposal to McGregor
In a playful twist, Hooker proposed a unique training camp deal with McGregor.
“We must drink one beer a day during training camp and send proof. Maybe even a photo of a failed alcohol test,” he joked.
Hooker is confident he would offer McGregor a more meaningful challenge, backed by his recent strong performances. He’s coming off a three-fight winning streak, with victories over Jalin Turner, Claudio Puelles, and Mateusz Gamrot, positioning him at fifth in the lightweight rankings. With both fighters eager to return to the Octagon, Hooker has made it clear he should be next for McGregor.
