Conor McGregor Confirms Fight Against Chandler in 2024
Conor McGregor is saying all the right things to Michael Chandler in regards to the UFC re-booking their matchup. Whether or not it’s true is another story.
McGregor’s Long-Awaited Return
McGregor’s long-awaited return to action after nearly three years on the shelf was set for the main event of UFC 303 this past June. An injury forced McGregor out of the fight, which has led to numerous questions about the futures of both fighters as 2024 progresses into its second half. McGregor’s absence has been felt keenly by fans and the UFC alike, with many eagerly anticipating his comeback.
On Saturday, McGregor sent Chandler some positive news in regards to their matchup, saying he had a conversation with UFC CEO Dana White and that it will definitely happen before the year is over.
“I talked to Dana today about our new date, all looking good,” McGregor told Chandler on Twitter. “[2024] for sure.”
Chandler’s Perspective
Chandler, as expected, is satisfied with this update. Chandler has been on the sidelines for quite some time himself, as his next fight will be his first since being submitted by Dustin Poirier at UFC 281 in November 2022. Despite his absence from the octagon, Chandler has remained in peak physical condition, eagerly awaiting the opportunity to face McGregor.
In a recent interview, Chandler expressed his enthusiasm for the fight, stating,
“It’s the fight that everyone wants to see. McGregor is a legend, and I’m ready to show the world what I can do against him.” This fight promises to be one of the most anticipated events in recent UFC history, drawing massive interest from fans and analysts alike.

Potential Fight Date
A source close to McGregor has dropped a significant update regarding the potential date for the fight. According to Peter Queally, McGregor’s friend and sparring partner, the ideal timeframe for the bout could be September 2024.
“It seems like they will endeavor to make that fight in September time,” he told talkSPORT. “That’s what I’m hearing. That’s what you can look forward to if they can make it happen.” This aligns with McGregor’s own statements about finalizing a date soon.
As the UFC schedules fill up, both fighters are looking to secure their spot on a major card, possibly headlining one of the key events later in the year. Fans are eagerly watching for any updates, hoping that this long-awaited matchup will finally come to fruition.
