Mike Tyson Taunts “Fat” Jake Paul Ahead of Big Fight
Mike Tyson is ready to prove that he still has what it takes, both in terms of his boxing skills and his trash talk.
Press Conference Heat
The boxing legend may be nearly 30 years older than Jake Paul, but he had no trouble going hard on the YouTube star at their second press conference. While their first meeting was relatively polite, the intensity between the fighters was much higher this time.
Physical Jabs at Paul
Tyson particularly targeted Paul’s physique. Paul usually competes at cruiserweight but has moved up to heavyweight to face the former world champion. Despite Paul’s significant weight gain, Tyson questioned whether he had trained sufficiently.
– I don’t know if he’s in his prime, he’s fat, said Mike Tyson to the crowd’s delight. He should be “lean and mean”. Instead, he’s “fat and funky”. I saw him with his shirt off the other day, he’s fat. Have you started training yet?
Paul’s Retort
This prompted Paul to remind Tyson of a stinging loss to Buster Douglas, one of the biggest upsets in sports history.
– Buster Douglas was fat, right? shouted Paul. I’m going to finish you faster than he did.
Paul’s comparison between himself and the former world champion Douglas made Tyson laugh.
– I know, but you’re no Buster Douglas, laughed Tyson.

Tyson Doubts Paul’s Power
Tyson continued to question Paul’s statements about knocking him out. The boxing legend brought up several opponents Paul couldn’t finish.
– He couldn’t even knock out Nate Diaz, said Tyson. Diaz weighs 40 lbs. Is he going to knock me out? Anderson Silva, he couldn’t even knock out the little guys? How is he going to knock me out?
– Who did he knock out? Little kids. He never knocked out a real man, come on. He didn’t knock out Tommy Fury. I’m going to destroy Jake. How can I lose if he couldn’t even beat Tommy Fury?
Paul had no good response to this but promised again that he would be the first to knock Tyson unconscious.
– He’s right. I can’t stand here and say I did those things, but what I promise people on July 20 is that Mike will go to sleep and he will feel my power, said Paul. I will go down in history as the man who put Tyson to sleep for the last time.
– I respect Mike, he’s a legend, shouted Paul. But it’s time, it’s my time now. There’s a reason I have the same birthday as Cus D’Amato, because I’m going to teach you how to box, Mike.
Tyson’s Reaction
Cus D’Amato is Tyson’s late trainer, but Tyson didn’t react much to this. Instead, he laughed again.
– I can’t even get mad at this guy, said Tyson. Because everyone knows this guy is just talking trash.
