O’Malley to Garcia: “I’d End You in Minutes”
In a bold response to boxing sensation Ryan Garcia’s challenge for an MMA showdown, UFC champion Sean “Sugar” O’Malley didn’t mince words. The world of combat sports often sees MMA fighters eyeing lucrative boxing matches, but it’s rare for boxers to step into the MMA arena. Garcia, however, seems convinced he can defeat O’Malley in his own game.
During his TimboSugarShow podcast, O’Malley expressed disbelief at Garcia’s confidence, stating, “Buddy. Brother. I would kill you in a few minutes. It’s not even realistic.” This stark warning highlights the vast difference in skill sets required for MMA compared to boxing. O’Malley questioned if people perceive his own boxing challenges similarly, albeit acknowledging a hint of insanity in boxers wanting to transition to MMA.

Despite Garcia’s prowess in boxing, O’Malley feels confident he’d dominate in any standing exchange and doesn’t see the need to take the fight to the ground. “I mean, I could take him down and choke him out, but I’d kick his body. I’d kick his little sticks. I’d do whatever the hell I wanted to him,” O’Malley added, emphasizing his versatile striking capabilities.
Before any potential super fight with Garcia materializes, O’Malley is set to defend his UFC title against Marlon “Chito” Vera at UFC 299. Vera represents O’Malley’s sole defeat so far, setting the stage for a highly anticipated rematch on March 9.
