Former UFC Champion Jon Jones to Make Comeback on March 4th

It is now official that former UFC champion Jon Jones will finally make his comeback on March 4th!

“Bones” Jones will take on the former title challenger Ciryl Gane at UFC 285 at the Las Vegas event. This will mark Jones’ first match in UFC since February 2020.

Not only will UFC 285 mark Jones’ comeback, but the heavyweight belt will also be on the line as the former heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou has given up his UFC title!

UFC president Dana White confirmed the title match after this weekend’s UFC Vegas 67 as several images of Jones vs Gane began to circulate on social media and were also projected on the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. White could also confirm that Ngannou had gone his separate ways with UFC and that “The Predator” is free to seek his fortune elsewhere.

“We have been negotiating with [Ngannou] for over two years,” White said. “We offered Francis a contract that would have made him the highest-paid heavyweight in the company’s history. More than (Brock) Lesnar, more than anyone else, and he said no to that.”

Light-heavyweight king Jones is widely regarded as one of MMA world’s best fighters but has not competed since he won a somewhat controversial decision against Dominick Reyes early in 2020. This would mark Jones’ last title defense in light-heavyweight.

After the title defense against Reyes, Jones would give up the title and inform that he intended to move up to the heavyweight class. However, contract negotiations have gotten in the way and it is still unclear what kind of UFC contract Jones has gotten in connection with his new title match in the heavyweight class.

In turn, Gane will try to defeat one of the organization’s biggest names and start a new winning streak. “Bon Gamin” Gane was last in the cage in September 2022 when he defeated Tai Tuivasa. In the match before, Gane faced his former teammate Ngannou in a title match but lost via unanimous decision, his only loss in his professional career.
