Conor McGregor goes bananas: “I told you I’d be back”
UFC star Conor McGregor has shared yet another bizarre video on Instagram.
“The Notorious” McGregor has been out of action for well over a year. Although he’s still not ready to return to competition, McGregor has remained in the spotlight due to his social media antics. The Irishman has challenged TikTok star Hasbulla Magomedov and recently sent threatening voice notes to UFC veteran Michael Bisping.
But the superstar’s latest post could be his strangest yet.
“I told you I’d be back,” McGregor said. “Wakey, wakey…”

What McGregor is hinting at, if anything, remains unclear. The former champion hasn’t been drug tested since last year, making an octagon return unlikely. Before he can become eligible to compete again, he’ll need to rejoin the USADA testing pool and be continuously tested for performance enhancing drugs for six months straight. Likely opponents for McGregor’s comeback include Jorge Masvidal and the winner of Dustin Poirier vs. Michael Chandler at UFC 281.
“The Notorious” has been busy recovering from the brutal leg break he suffered in the trilogy fight against “The Diamond” Poirier at UFC 264. During his time off, the superstar has shown an eagerness to return to competition. He’s hinted at a return to boxing, challenged multiple UFC fighters such as Rafael Fiziev, and said that he expects a title shot for his first fight back. Whether he gets his wish remains to be seen. Judging by his antics on social media, the former double champion doesn’t seem to have his mind in the right place.
