Reactions to Deontay Wilder’s BRUTAL Knockout
Deontay Wilder brutally knocked out Robert Helenius on Saturday night in his first time back in the ring since his second defeat by Tyson Fury a year ago. He knocked out the Finnish boxer with a sharp right hand with only seconds left in the first round.
Wilder was favored to win, but no one could have expected such a decisive and quick victory from a boxer who had only just recently seriously considered retirement. Backed into a corner, Wilder landed a clean right hand, knocking Helenius out cold! Helenius was out for several minutes when he eventually came to and walked out of the ring. Wilder discussed his strategy, saying,
“I had to take my time. I was making him reach. I wanted to be mobile, agile and hostile. I set him up, allowed him to reach and then when he reached, I attacked.”
This marks the 42nd knockout of his career, one in which he was previously undefeated before two consecutive defeats by Tyson Fury. This incredible performance has shown the world he still has what it takes. Wilder’s excitement with his victory was palpable:
“We wanted to make this fun again. You can do this so long it can be a job, just something you are doing. We made it fun. It paid off big time.”
