CONFIRMED: UFC will return to London in July
It is now official that the UFC will return to London on July 23 and most likely we will see the UFC Swede Alexander Gustafsson compete on the main card!
It’s barely a month ago since the UFC was in UK when they took over The O2 Arena with a star-studded fight card on March 19! In the main event, we saw home favorite Tom Aspinall continue his undefeated winning streak in the UFC with another finish. All indications are that Aspinall will once again compete on the main card when the UFC now returns to London on July 23!
– They want Tom Aspinall on the main card again, wrote MMA journalist Ariel Helwani. Expect that a lot of winners from the March event will also take part in this. Love it!
Not too long after that Helwani’s came out with the news, the UFC confirmed that the London event is official and that they are returning to The O2 Arena! MMAnyt.com also wrote yesterday that Alexander Gustafsson will be fighting on the card.
UFC London with Alexander Gustafsson? What do we know so far?
There are several fights that have just been rumored ahead of the UFC London. So far, only one bout has been announced ahead of the event: a flyweight fight between shooting star Muhammad Mokaev and multiple LFA champion Charles Johnson.
In addition to that bout, a lot of hints, strong rumors and information before UFC London abound. Here are some of the fighters we may see during UFC London on July 23rd!
Heavyweight Main Fight: Tom Aspinall vs. TBA
Aspinall excelled in the main event when he finished Alexander Volkov in the first round, his eighth straight win and fifth in the UFC. On his Instagram, Aspinall wrote yesterday that he had “a massive fight in progress” and his fight at UFC London has been reported on several sites! No opponent has been confirmed yet, but considering which fighters have already been booked, we guess that the lottery will end up at Tai Tuivasa!
Light heavyweight: Alexander Gustafsson vs Nikita Krylov
UFC Swede Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson is rumored to return to the light heavyweight division when he is matched against Ukrainian Nikita Krylov. Gustafsson is currently at Allstar’s newly opened gym in Spain and has neither denied nor confirmed the news himself.
Middleweight: Darren Till vs. TBA
Darren Till is without a doubt one of England’s biggest names and the crowd favorite’s gym has already announced that Till has started his training camp! It would fit perfectly before UFC London and if we were to guess an opponent, the lot would probably fall on Uriah Hall or the UFC Swede Jack Hermansson, who both have a past with “The Gorilla” Till and challenged him!
Paddy Pimblett and Molly McCann
The UFC will not visit the UK without bringing the country’s most popular radar pair: Paddy “The Baddy” Pimblett and Molly McCann! Pimblett has in a short time become one of the organization’s biggest names and currently has two straight wins in the octagon. Both Pimblett and McCann competed during UFC London on March 19 and each took home an impressive win in the octagon and earned bonus money! Both have indicated on social media that they will compete soon, but no opponents have been announced yet!
