Joe Rogan Thinks Conor Mcgregor Should Take Easier Fights in His UFC Comeback!

✔ Conor Mcgregor wants to meet Kamaru Usman and fight for the welterweight belt ✔ Joe Rogan does not agree: "If I were his manager ..."

Conor McGregor is aiming for the welterweight title, but veteran commentator Joe Rogan thinks that the Irish UFC star should take a warm-up fight before he takes on the top tier again.

McGregor is currently in the final stages of his recovery from a serious leg injury last year. The broken leg came in a re-match against Dustin Poirier and marked McGregor’s second straight loss and third defeat in four fights. Despite this, McGregor wants to write UFC history by making a comeback in the welterweight division and fighting for the belt. Not only that, UFC Swede Khamzat Chimaev says he is willing to help McGregor!

If McGregor were to win the welterweight belt, he would become the first fighter to win three UFC titles in three weight classes. Kamaru Usman is currently the welterweight champion, but he will most likely defend his belt against Leon Edwards this summer. It’s about the same time that McGregor is aiming for his return to the octagon.

Veteran commentator and podcast king Joe Rogan, however, believes it would be a mistake for McGregor to face someone like Usman in his comeback.

– If Conor wants the greatest possible chance of success, he should meet someone who is below the championship level, –  Rogan said when he visited Mike Tyson’s podcast.
Maybe a guy on the way up, someone that Conor would have an advantage over, but who would still result in a tough fight. Give him a challenge, but do not match him with Usman directly!

Who should Conor McGregor face in his UFC comeback?

In a few years, 33-year-old Conor McGregor came to cement himself as the sport’s biggest star. He made history when he became the UFC’s first doubles champion but later lost his titles due to inactivity.

McGregor’s two straight losses are the worst slump of his career, but it can be argued that his defeat was only against the top tier of the sport. McGregor’s recent three losses come against former interim champion Poirier and undefeated former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

McGregor’s only win in recent years came against veteran Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in January 2020. Rogan thinks McGregor should face that level of fighters after a long period of inactivity. Rogan compares MMA to boxing, where warm-up fights are more common.

– One thing that boxers do that I think is smart is that they take warm-up fights, Rogan said. I think there is a reason why smart managers have long used warm-up matches. They know that you have to dust yourself off and that you will be better in the next fight. Better that than jumping straight into a match against someone like Dustin Poirier or someone like Michael Chandler, someone who belongs to the elite elite.

It’s no secret that McGregor has some power in the UFC. Rogan knows that McGregor will eventually do as he pleases, but he still recommends taking someone easier, just like when he met “Cowboy” Cerrone.
