UFC’s Light-heavyweight Contender Alexander Gustafsson Opens Up About His UFC Career: “I Am Not Done!”

✔ Alexander Gustafsson aims for a comeback to the octagon: "Missing it"

Swedish UFC fighter Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson is not ready to leave the sport yet!

The Swedish MMA pioneer has not competed since July 2020 when he lost to former UFC champion Fabricio Werdum. It was Gustafsson’s heavyweight debut and return after over a year away from the Octagon. “The Mauler” had previously retired after a tough loss to Anthony Smith.

In September 2020, Gustafsson was booked to return to the Octagon when he was booked in against Paul Craig. Unfortunately, the match was canceled after the UFC Swede injured himself. Despite three straight losses and injuries, however, Gustafsson says that he is motivated and ready to get back on the horse!

“We’ll see what happens,” Gustafsson told ESPN. We talk a lot with the UFC. I want to fight. I want to fight early this year, and basically take it from there. I want to take revenge for the Werdum fight. I feel like I did not really get into that fight… I feel like I need to do things, take one fight at a time. I want to compete early this year to just get in there and have fun. Take one win at a time.

Alexander Gustafsson misses the octagon!

Gustafsson is without a doubt the most merited MMA fighter in Sweden. On three occasions he has fought for the UFC gold but has not managed to get all the way despite impressive efforts against both Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier. Gustafsson has an extensive fight record with wins over names such as ex-champion Jan Blachowicz and current title holder Glover Teixeira. But “The Mauler” feels that he still has a lot to give.
