Rafael Cordeiro Reveals: Mike Tyson Returns for a New Boxing Match!
After his grand comeback to boxing last year, “Iron” Mike Tyson is now ready for another fight.
Since Tyson’s return in November last year, fans around the world have wondered when the former heavyweight champion would step into the cage again. In April, Tyson then revealed plans to possibly face his former rival Lennox Lewis. However, it was highly unclear when and if the negotiations before the boxing bout were successful.
It is still not clear if Tyson vs Lewis 2 will be off. What seems more certain, however, is that Tyson will return to the ring in September – something his coach Rafael Cordeiro recently revealed.
– We continue to train, Cordeiro told MMAFighting. He is an athlete and always trains, hitting the bag and mitts here at the gym. I think we will have something in September. I do not know because his company Legends Only League is doing the negotiations and a TV deal so they can announce a schedule, but we are training. We will fight in September.
Mike Tyson can get revenge
When Tyson returned last year, he did so against former champion and legend Roy Jones Jr. in a event hosted by Triller. The boxing match ended in a draw, but many considered Tyson to be the sharper fighter who hit significantly more.
Earlier this year, reports emerged of a third meeting between Tyson and arch-rival Evander Holyfield. In March, Tyson then denied the rumors, saying he had broken up with Triller after failed negotiations.
If Tyson faces Lewis, it will still be an opportunity to get the revenge from their first meeting in June 2002. Lewis won by knockout in the eighth round and thus became the third fighter to knock Tyson after Buster Douglas and Holyfield.
