“Hearing that Tyson will make $10 million and Roy Jones +/- $3 million for their exhibition Saturday,” Iole wrote on Twitter about the reported million dollar payday for Tyson and Jones Jr.
Thus far these estimates haven’t been confirmed, though Iole is a respected journalist who’s sources are often correct.
The fight between Tyson and Jones Jr is an exhibition bout, though the winner will still earn the WBC “Frontline Battle” belt, made especially for this fight. Tyson’s last boxing bout was in 2005 at 38 years old, in a TKO loss to Kevin McBride. Jones Jr, on the other hand, last competed in 2018, defeating Scott Sigmon via decision.
