UFC boss unfazed by backlash for Donald Trump support: "This is America"

Never one to fall to pressure, UFC president Dana White is steadfast in his support of United States president Donald Trump. White will speak at the Republican National Convention on Thursday in support of Trump, which led to criticism from many UFC fans. However, White doesn’t concern himself with the backlash he’s received for this.

“That sh*t doesn’t bother me,” White told the MMA media in Las Vegas on Tuesday. “Listen, this is America. Everybody has their own opinions and their own choices. I know that sometimes people go after you because of whatever, but everybody knows me. Everybody knows what I’m about, and you know.

“I don’t know. Talk to me after the speech.”

It’s no secret that Trump has been a controversial figure for many. His handling of the Covid-19 pandemic, which has resulted in 180,000 American deaths, or his aggressive response to the Black Lives Matter movement, are both points of contention as of late. Add to that Trump’s unprofessional way of speaking to the press or other politicians, which has caused a strong divide amongst Americans.

White, who’s personality is just as strong, simply doesn’t care what people make of his relationship with Trump.

“I don’t give a sh*t. I don’t care what people think of me or what they think,” White said. “The people that know me know who I am and know what I’m about. Other than that, I (couldn’t) care less. There’s tons of guys that hate Trump, whether it’s celebrities or whatever, and I’m cool with all of them. We’re all cool.

“Like I said, the people who know me, know me, and the people who don’t all judge me anyways. It doesn’t matter to me. I (couldn’t) care less.”
