Colby Covington: Tyron Woodley will leave octagon on a stretcher
Staying in line with his antagonistic persona, Colby Covington isn’t letting his rival Tyron Woodley off easy, and says a stretcher will be needed to carry the latter out of the octagon. The two were recently booked to face each other in the main event of the UFC’s planned Fight Night event on September 19th. Both welterweights are high-level, former title holders – And bitter rivals.
The two have gone back and forth for several years, with a grudge match between them constantly looming over the horizon. Despite recent setbacks for both, Covington expects the best Woodley we’ve seen, and also a brutal finish.

“We are going to see the best Tyron Woodley we have ever seen in this fight. Speaking of his last two fights, those guys, yeah they beat him on the judge’s scorecard, this fight ain’t going to the judge’s scorecards,” Covington told MMAFighting. “I’m leaving no doubt that I am the best welterweight in the world. I’m going to add another world champion to my resume. My long list of amazing resume I already have. I’m going to finish him, it is not going to the judge’s decision I promise you that. He will get left unconscious inside that Octagon.”
“If Tyron Woodley does not leave the Octagon on September 19 live on ESPN on a stretcher then I didn’t do my job,” Covington added.
Currently Woodley is in a tough slump, as he is coming off back-to-back losses via dominating unanimous decisions. First he lost his title to current reigning welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, and was then bulldozed by Gilbert Burns in his comeback fight. Three straight losses would be devastating for the former welterweight chamion.
Tyron Woodley vs Colby Covington odds
While Covington is also coming off of a loss, it’s not quite as damaging. He almost went five full rounds with above mentioned Usman, before succumbing to a TKO due to a broken jaw. The bout won “Fight of the Night”, however, and raised Covington’s stock in the welterweight division. His antagonistic persona has made him popular, for better or worse, and many fans tune in to see him fight.
