Dillon Danis throws shade at Khamzat Chimaev – Backfires spectacularly
Trash talk doesn’t always succeed, something Dillon Danis learned while firing shots at undefeated Khamzat Chimaev.
As the UFC have hosted events at Fight Island in Abu Dhabi, there has perhaps been no bigger breakout star than the Swedish-based Chechen Khamzat Chimaev. Undefated with all wins bu finish, he made a huge splash in the UFC, winning two fights in the promotion in just two weeks. First he dispatched of Welsh veteran John Phillips via submission, then he bulldozed Northern Ireland’s Rhys McKee with a first round TKO.
Training alongside Alexander Gustafsson and Ilir Latifi at Allstars Training Center in Stockholm, and has been hailed by many as a future UFC champion. One fighter who wasn’t particularly impressed, however, was welterweight grappler Dillon Danis, who took to social media to claim that he would finish Chimaev.
“I’d sub Chimaev easy,” Danis wrote.
This bold claim did not go over well with the rest of the MMA community, however, who were quick to point out that Chimaev has as many wins in two weeks as Danis has in his entire two year MMA career.

As of now Chimaev has called out Demian Maia, and UFC president Dana White has had nothing but good things to say of the Swedish-Chechen welterweight. There is a good chance that Chimaev returns to the UFC on August 15th for UFC 252, though it remains to be seen if it all materialises.
