English MMA prospect Jahreau Shepherd dead following knife attack
English welterweight Jahreau Shepherd has sadly passed away, dead at just 30 years of age. The Brit, who has represented Allstars Training Center and trained with Alexander Gustafsson, seems to have been the victim of a senseless act of violence.
This weekend the BBC reported of a 30 year-old man stabbed to death in London. While the person is not identified in the article, according to sources it is in fact Shepherd who was slain in the attack.
Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams said: “A man has lost his life and a family has been left suffering unimaginable grief because of the callous use of a knife to inflict fatal injuries.
“I will do all I can to get justice for this family, and, along with colleagues from my homicide teams, I will use every available tactic to find whoever is responsible for this terrible attack.”
Shepherd held a 6-2 record and was on a five fight winning streak, with wins in Bellator and UCMMA. Additionally, “Nightmare” had gone undefeated as an amateur, with two wins in ten seconds or less. He was also the welterweight champion of the British MMA promotion Contenders. The promotion released a statement on Shepherds tragic passing.

“Contenders is absolutely devastated to hear of Jahreau Shepherd‘s death,” The promotion wrote.
Jay, our welterweight champion, was hugely talented and great fun to be around, a big personality with a huge smile and infectious laugh.
Inside the cage, he was destined for the top – a champion in three different organisations with heavy hands and a warrior heart.
Our thoughts are with all his family and friends at this terrible time.
Rest in peace, champ.”
It’s not clear what motivated this senseless act of violence. Majdi Shamas, co-owner of Allstars Training Center and manager to several Swedish-based fighters, described Shepherd as a genuine person with lots of potential. According to Shamas, Shepherd had also planned on moving to Stockholm to train there full time.
As the MMA community comes together in mourning and to show respect, one can only hope that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
