Dustin Poirier gives reporter Ariel Helwani a perfect response
While certainly meaning well, Ariel Helwani garnered a pitch perfect response from lightweight contender Dustin Poirier.
This weekend’s UFC on ESPN 12 delivered a main event that is still being talked about. Fan-friendly strikers Dustin Poirier and Dan Hooker left it all in the octagon, producing five rounds of entertainment and violence. While it was a close fight, the more experienced Poirier eventually won a unanimous decision. Both fighters were later transported to the hospital to nurse the many wounds an instant classic of a fight such as this would produce.

The UFC’s lightweight division has long been the most talent-stacked division in the UFC, with many of the sports biggest stars residing there. Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov are among those who have become huge stars, bringing attention to the division.
Poirier’s victory over Hooker was a much-needed return to the win column after an unsuccessful bid to capture Nurmagomedov’s lightweight title. It remains to be seen what fight Poirier gets following this signature win, but all indications point towards a huge fight next for the Louisiana native.
