Dan Hooker shows off battle scars and stitches – After five round war
UFC on ESPN 21 went down this weekend, and it delivered what has widely been considered one of the best fights of the year. After a series of UFC events with headliners that didn’t necessarily contend for “Fight of the Night”, Dustin Poirier and Dan Hooker gave us a battle for the ages – And have the scars and stitches to prove it.
New Zealand’s Hooker started off strongly, outpointing Poirier in the first two rounds. Poirier’s top-level experience showed, however, as he was able to get back into the fight. Both fighters took substantial damage, though Hooker was received a deeper cut the bled profusely. In the end, the judges all scored the bout in favour of Poirier, but fans all around the world were praising both lightweights.
Following the battle, Hooker took to instagram to post an update video.

“Hey everyone, just back at the hotel with the lads, having a feed. Just got checked out at the hospital, everything’s good. Just a couple of stitches on the eye. Hey, that’s the game we play, no worries. It’s just a small setback. I’ll be back,” Dan Hooker said in the video, showing off his scars and stitches.
UFC on ESPN 12 was Hooker’s second main event, after edging out Paul Felder via split decision in New Zealand. Poirier is now back in the win column after coming up short against Khabib Nurmagomedov in September of last year.
