Rachael Ostovich tests positive – Receives 1 year suspension from USADA
The Ultimate Fighter season 26 star Rachael Ostovich has received a one year suspension from by The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) after testing positive for banned substances. The findings were the result of an out-of-competition drug test collected on January 3, 2020, with Ostarine and GW1516 being the banned substances found.
The sentence has been reduced, however, as a tainted supplement was deemed to be the source of the banned substances. USADA released a statement on the issue, detailing the process.
“USADA announced today that Rachael Ostovich-Berdon, of Waianae, Hawaii, has accepted a one-year sanction for her violation of the UFC® Anti-Doping Policy (UFC ADP) but has received a four-month credit to her sanction due to time served under a provisional suspension in the latter half of 2019 for an atypical finding that was being investigated by USADA and which did not result in a sanction once the 2019 UFC ADP was announced, making her total period of ineligibility eight months,” The statement read.

“Ostovich-Berdon, 29, tested positive for ostarine and GW1516 (also known as GW-501516) metabolites GW1516 sulfone and GW1516 sulfoxide as the result of a urine sample collected out-of-competition on January 3, 2020. Ostarine is a non-Specified Substance in the class of Anabolic Agents and GW1516 is a non-Specified Substance in the category of Hormone and Metabolic Modulators. These substances are prohibited at all times under the UFC ADP and UFC Prohibited List.”
Ostovich has had some tough times as of late. She was the victim of a brutal physical assault from her ex husband in the winter of 2018. She managed to pull herself from though for a main card bout with Paige VanZant. Despite a strong showing in the opening round, Ostovich was forced to tap to an armbar in the second round. That was Ostovich’s second straight loss in the UFC.
As of now she holds just a single win recorded in the UFC, a 2017 submission win over Karine Gevorgyan in her UFC debut.
