Jon Jones vs Francis Ngannou? Dana White speaks out on fight
With superfights continuing to be all the rage, UFC president Dana White addressed the ongoing talk between Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou.
With the world in the state that it is, it can take some time before it return to normal. This applies to many aspects of life, even regular match making in the UFC, as travel ca, be difficult in these dire times. This has opened up for a potential superfight that many fans have been interested in.
UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has more or less cleaned out the division. He has yet to taste (proper, non-controversial) defeat and has beaten a who’s who of the best light heavyweights in the world. Though many fans would like to see a rematch between Jones and Dominick Reyes, or a title defence against Jan Blachowicz, there are other options.
Jones has toyed with the idea of going to heavyweight for many years. Cameroon’s Francis Ngannou is cutting a swathe through the heavyweight ranks, and currently sits on a four fight winning streak, with all wins via T/KO. The two have exchanged comments on social media, and both seem to be open to a fight.

“Who would you guys consider the quicker and more technical striker Thiago Santos or Francis? If you guys think I wouldn’t take this fight you’re insane,” Jones wrote. “I have absolutely nothing else to prove as a light heavyweight. I’d love that big money fight right around now. Send the deal.”
This weekend at the UFC on ESPN 8 press conference, UFC president Dana White spoke out on the potential match up, but wasn’t as convinced as many fans are at the moment.

“Yeah, I mean anything is possible,” Dana White said in regards to a potential Jon Jones vs Francis Ngannou fight. “I mean I don’t know if those guys really want that fight. You know what I mean? But let me tell you this, and I’m not saying that this is the case with these two. But, you see a lot of talk online and whatever in my opinion. But actually making fight is a whole other ball game.”
Neither Jones or Ngannou have a bout scheduled at the moment. Ngannou most recently dispatched previously unbeaten Jairzinho Rozenstruik in just 20 seconds. Meanwhile J0nes’ two most recent title defences have been closely contested.
With both Reyes and Blachowicz deserving of title shots, perhaps a number one contender bout between the two could be put together while Jones tests heavyweight waters against Ngannou? Regardless, White doesn’t seem sold on the idea, but there is plenty of room for change.
